Our programs run on a weekly basis in alignment with the school calendar, resulting in reliable, consistent and effective programming for at-risk children, youth and caregivers who need it most.
RSF offers three distinct programming areas.
Group Music Classes for children under the age of 5 with their caregiver. Classes are taught by professional musicians with a focus on developing language, numeracy, and other age-specific skills. The classes are filled with song, musicianship, and laughter to ensure maximal engagement and impact for all participants. We strive to create a positive environment where a parent/caregiver, who may be facing challenging times, can bond with their child, through musical interaction and play.
Small Group Music Classes for School Age Children. Classes in vocals, ukulele and recorder are taught by professional musicians with the aim of providing a positive environment for vulnerable children and youth to learn about music, while developing lifelong social skills. With the guidance of a musical mentor, our students engage in fun and interactive musical programming that fosters self-confidence and promotes overall mental health and wellness.
Music Therapy Sessions for Caregivers. Music therapy sessions are facilitated by a certified music therapist, who provides a supportive space for caregivers to feel seen and heard. Sessions focus on self expression, relaxation, self-reflection, and promoting confidence through music making, music listening, music supported meditation, and discussion. Through the process of the music experience, the insights and tools cultivated in music therapy sessions nurture self compassion and wellness for caregivers.
